Activities in 2014

Shell Singapore Youth Science Festival (SSYSF)
Beijing-Singapore Exchange Programme held on 23 January 2014

The Science Centre hosted a group of drama students from Beijing on 23 January 2014. These students participated in a science drama competition in China that is similar to Shell Singapore Youth Science Festival (SSYSF) stage. Our Drama Club pupils, along with a few other primary schools, were invited to take part in this Beijing-Singapore exchange where both groups interacted and learnt from each other. There were drama performances staged by both the Beijing and Singapore teams. It was truly a memorable experience and everyone was entralled with the props worn and used by the performers.

National Story Challenge 2014
Amelie and Chantal of Pr 6 Hope took part in the solo category of the competition while Clarissa, Viresha and Serena took part in the team category. Although they did not proceed to the next round,  it was a good learning experience as it increased their confidence in performing on a public platform at a competitive level.

Founder's Day held on 22 May 2014
Some members from the Drama Club re-enacted a scene where Mother Malthilde took in children who were abandoned and homeless. This was part of the celebration to commemorate our school's Founder's Day. It showed her virtues of compassion, love and care and how she nursed and educated these children to become useful members of society. We also had the privilege of having Mother Mathilde's great grand nephew, Fr. Pierre who had come from Japan to celebrate mass together with Fr. Edumund Chong.

An excerpt from Mulan the Musical
The Drama Club pupils are currently undergoing practice sessions since the beginning of the year under the guidance of drama trainer, Mr Elyas from ETC Productions.  The pupils showcased this excerpt during Pre-assembly on Friday 11 July 2014 as well as during the annual Prefect Invesiture on 18 July 2014 as a dedication to the prefects.

Performance at Rainbow Centre
We were very honoured to have been given an opportunity for the Drama Club pupils to perform the excerpt from "Mulan" at Rainbow Centre-a school for children with  special needs. The children, teachers, parents and volunteers at the Centre enjoyed the performance, evident from the rousing applause the pupils received.
