Choir

About the CCA

The Choir, one of the performing arts CCA in CHIJ Our Lady Queen of Peace, has students who have chosen to invest time and energy to develop their talents and skills in choral singing. Our choir has journeyed a long way and our Choristers are committed during each session to reach their full potential through commitment and self-discipline. They are self-directed in their training, disciplined and confident to come together as one in pursuit of their passion.

Our Choir instructor, Ms Angila Tan drives a mission to develop and hone each member’s vocal talents and skills in musicianship.

The Choir is proud to receive the Certificate of Distinction in the 2016 SYF Arts Presentation, held at the School Of The Arts (SOTA) in April. Our Choir has attained Gold for three consecutive SYF competitions from 2008-2012 and a Distinction Award under the revised grading for 2014, 2016 & 2018.

There will be three groups of choristers:

Level 1 - Beginners Group: Choristers will learn basic musician skills, vocal techniques and a repertoire of songs. They will then showcase what they have learnt through performing in school events.

Level 2 - Intermediate Group: Choristers will further develop their musician skills, vocal techniques and wide repertoire of songs. They will then showcase what they have learnt through performing in school events.

Level 3 - Competition Group: Choristers will undergo more intensive trainings to hone their vocal skills. They will be involved in various choral workshops carried out by renowned local/international conductor. They will also represent the school in SICF and SYF respectively in alternative years. These competitions will give them valuable exposure in their musicianship and develop in them commitment, diligence and resilience.
